Description

The Army Body Fat Calculator uses the U.S. Army's standards to determine body fat percentage for fitness assessments. This tool calculates body fat based on gender, age, and measurements of the neck, waist, and hips (for females). Users can select between imperial and metric units for their measurements.

How to Use

  1. Select your gender from the "Gender" dropdown menu.
  2. Enter your age in the "Age" field.
  3. Select the unit system you prefer: "Inches & Feet" or "Meters & Centimeters".
  4. Enter your height, neck, and waist measurements according to the selected unit system.
  5. If female, enter your hip measurement in the corresponding unit system.
  6. Click the "Calculate Body Fat Percentage" button to determine your body fat percentage according to Army standards.
  7. The result will be displayed below the button, showing your body fat percentage.

How to Calculate Body Fat Manually

To manually calculate body fat percentage using the U.S. Army's formula, follow these steps:

  1. Measure your neck, waist, and hips (for females) using a flexible tape measure.
  2. Use the following formulas:
    • **For Males:**
      • Body Fat % = 86.010 × log10(waist - neck) - 70.041 × log10(height) + 36.76
    • **For Females:**
      • Body Fat % = 163.205 × log10(waist + hips - neck) - 97.684 × log10(height) - 78.387
  3. Calculate using these formulas to determine body fat percentage.
